Well, we are back on the search for the movie of all movies. The crew of the U.S.S. Cinema Abyss has once again hoisted sails and pointed our bow towards the horizon. Our current adventure brought us to Scott Derrickson's latest work, DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

This film stars Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez. Bana is best known as the guy who destroyed the HULK character. He plays or should I say "tries," to play a tough New York police office Ralph Sarchie. Sarchie is investigating a series of weird cases. Bana tries to come off as a tough Italian New York Police Department cop. He kept making facial expressions that reminded me of Robert DeNiro. The film is hard to sell. DELIVER US FROM EVIL is the same, tired story line of a controlling demonic entity that takes the possession track. Thus, upsetting the balance of good and evil in the world.

The demonic activity facilitated the team up of Sarchie with Ramirez's' Priest character Mendoza. This grouping comes late in the movie. The two have conversations of Sarchie's religious background. Mendoza asks when Bana's character lost his faith. Yes, that same ole' question every Catholic movie priest asks. "Mendoza" later tells "Sarchie" his life story and failings. He was never a pedophile but rather got a parishioner pregnant after getting high on Meth. Soon, the two carry out their investigation of the bizarre events and narrow down their search to one suspect.

This movie is Detective Sarchie's  detailed bone-chilling real-life case file. I can only speculate how much of the story is actual. I am sure getting his butt kicked all the time was not easy. I know as a New Yorker, that Sarchie must have kicked a few asses himself. Put that in the movie next time. This is AtemiCast Tony signing out
